Molecules that can specifically silence gene expressions are powerful research tools. Small interfering RNA or siRNA is one of the latest additions to the repertoire of sequence-specific gene-silencing agents. siRNA can be said as the active agent of RNAi. Various modifications were created in siRNAs to determine the biochemical properties required for RNA interference [9]. The selective and robust effect of RNAi has shown extensive involvement in regulation at genome level. siRNA has a wide variety of applications in functional genomics and as potential therapeutics [10].
